A research group specialising in hapten chemistry, antibody production and immunoanalytical tools for food safety, environmental and clinical applications.
Equipment
Our group operates across three specialised laboratories — one at the University of València and two at IATA-CSIC — each equipped for a distinct stage of the research pipeline.
Three laboratories
01 — Synthesis
Organic Synthesis Laboratory
Department of Organic Chemistry · Faculty of Chemistry · University of València
Located in the Department of Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of València. It has the equipment and material required to carry out the synthesis, purification and characterisation of functionalised haptens used for antibody generation and immunoassay development.
It also has access to the Central Services for Experimental Research (SCSIE) of the University of València — Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics services — providing the tools for an adequate characterisation of all synthesised compounds.
HPLC with UV/DAD detection
Characterisation and purification of hapten derivatives and synthetic intermediates
Mass spectrometry (shared SCSIE)
Structural confirmation of haptens and bioconjugates
NMR spectrometry (shared SCSIE)
Characterisation and purification of hapten derivatives and synthetic intermediates
Synthesis workstations
Rotary evaporators, vacuum lines, fume hoods, preparative TLC
02 — Immunotechnology
Analytical Immunotechnology Laboratory
Laboratory 504 · IATA-CSIC · Paterna, València
Part of the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA), one of the public research centres of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). The IATA is located in the Science Park of the University of València and is a preferential user of the Central Services for Experimental Research (SCSIE).
The IATA Proteomics Service has the instruments to carry out the modification, labelling and purification of proteins. The Animal Production Service has specialised staff for the handling of experimental animals used in antibody production.
Microplate readers and washers
ELISA readout (absorbance) and plate washing stations
GC and HPLC with UV and MS detectors
Reference-method analysis and immunoassay cross-validation
Spectrophotometers
UV-Vis for protein quantification and conjugate characterisation
Sample homogenisers & extraction equipment
Food and environmental matrix preparation
Refrigerators, freezers (−20 °C / −80 °C)
Antibody stock storage and reagent conservation
03 — Cell culture
Cell Cultures & Hybridoma Production Laboratory
IATA-CSIC · Paterna, València
Located at IATA, this is an independent P2-level biological-safety room furnished with several laminar-flow cabinets for working under sterile conditions and a series of controlled-atmosphere incubators.
It is dedicated to hybridoma production using standard Köhler and Milstein technology, enabling the generation of monoclonal antibodies against small molecules (haptens) from immunised mice.
Laminar-flow cabinets (Class II)
Sterile cell culture and hybridoma handling
CO₂ controlled-atmosphere incubators
Hybridoma cell maintenance and growth
Inverted optical microscope
Cell viability and growth monitoring
Benchtop centrifuge, baths, refrigerators
General cell-culture support equipment
